Biewer Yorkshire Terriers

 

 Welcome to Mystic Biewers at Mystic Monkeys and Feathers Wildlife Park.

During the course of 2008, Christa Saayman (the owner) imported two pairs of Biewer Yorkshire Terriers, with the purpose to start a breeding program and introduce these amazing little animals to the South African public. The first two puppies were imported from a well-known breeder in Germany and the excitement was unreal when the two puppies named Miley and Cody, arrived in South Africa during July 2008.

Shortly thereafter, Christa imported another two Biewer Yorkshire Terriers from a breeder in The Netherlands, Zack and an older Biewer Yorkshire Terrier named Zettie. Christa has done extensive research on these puppies and her aim is to inform and educate the public about this special breed.

 

ABOUT BIEWER YORKSHIRE TERRIERS

The Biewer Yorkshire Terriers is a longhaired toy terrier whose hair hangs evenly and quite straight down the side of the body, from the base of the skull to the end of the tail.

According to the breeders in Germany, the animal should be vary compact in size and of neat appearance. The tail should be carried up and the outlines should give the impression of the powerful and well-proportioned body. The hair on the body should have a length 3/4 down the sides of the dog, or long enough to reach the ground, and is absolutely straight (not wooly), shiny like silk and of fine silky texture, without an undercoat.

The colour of the coat of the trunk and the headpiece is white or blue-white broken or closely blue or black without brown colouring. The hairon the breast, belly and legs is pure white. The head is white-blue-gold and symmetrical colored.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Biewer Yorkshire Terriers are unselfish, full of humor, loyal and very devoted to their human family. Highly energetic, brave and clever not to mention intelligent.

The highlight of their day is a walk with their owners and playing. They love company and therefore make excellent therapy dogs. They investigate everything you do, and are always willing to lend a paw. Their  unique character makes them  a favorite with young and old who gets to know them.

GROOMING

As a companion most owners prefer to have this breed in a “perpetual puppy cut”. A bath at home about every two to three weeks will maintain a healthy coat, if it is combed out with awire comb once a week.

The Biewer will develop a coat that reaches the ground and some breeders rap the coat to produce a very impressive elegant length coat for the show ring.
